Oak Hill Academy advanced to an impressive 31-0 following a close 59-54 over Omaha South.
Ranked 5th in the DigitalSports National Basketball Rankings, the Warriors have been one of the most sought after teams to beat for quite some time now. Omaha certainly gave the Oak Hill a run for its money, but the Virginia squad hung on to the five point victory.
The Packers had the early jump on Oak Hill, taking a 19-12 advantage in the first quarter. The lead did not hold up long as Oak Hill seized a tight 32-31 score line before the half.
The second half was as equally even as the first. Omaha led 47-46 by the end of the third before both teams entered a defensive final quarter. In the dying minutes of the fourth, the game was tied at 54 when Oak Hill’s Joshua Reeves hit a three-pointer, securing the win for the Warriors. After a couple of foul shots, Oak Hill led by five and the final buzzer sounded.
Only Oak Hill’s star small forward Dwayne Bacon was the only Warrior able to consistently penetrate Omaha’s stifling defense. The Florida State commit drained a game-high 32 points, Oak Hill’s only scorer in double digits.
Oak Hill continues its way on the perfect season. The Warriors next test comes on February 17 when they face Mountain Mission.
